Powerade 5 focuses on FIBA-Asia despite row

Philippines - Coach Yeng Guiao said the Powerade Team Pilipinas
will remain focused on its task to make the grade for the
2010 World Championship in Turkey next year despite the uncertainty
of the SBP status in the Fiba roster.
Barring
another suspension of the Philippines by the world governing
cage body, Powerade-RP opens its campaign in the Asian world
qualifier versus Sri Lanka on Aug. 6.

FIBA-Asia: RP lands in 'Group of Hope'

itself grouped with old rivals South Korea and Japan in a
bracket considered by local cage officials as “Group
of Hope” for the initial round of the 2009 FIBA-Asia
championship in Tianjin, China in August.

PBA chief throws full support for Guiao

Philippines – PBA commissioner Sonny Barrios said yesterday
he won’t meddle in Powerade Team Pilipinas coach Yeng
Guiao’s decision-making with regard to choosing players
or his staff for the national squad and reiterated the league’s
full support in the campaign to represent the country competitively
at the FIBA-Asia Championships in Tianjin on Aug. 6-16.
