Report BACKGROUND The 1st BAP-Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas national instructors program started on August 10 - 13, 2007 at the FEU Gym facilitated by the Asian Referees Academy of The Philippines with the world renowned FIBA referee and instructor and current Euroleague Technical Consultant, Mr. Alan Richardson. The program was an instructors program which aimed to develop Filipino referees' instructors. They were trained in the art of evaluating talent and developing this talent. A total of forty seven (47) referees attended and completed the first session of the program which was held in Metro Manila. The 47 referees represented regions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 12 and the NCR area. A similar program was done in Cebu for region 6, 7 and 8. A separate active referee program was done for referees of the NCAA, UAAP, NAASCU and MBT. TEACHING PROGRAM (Metro Manila) During the first day (August 10, 2007) of the program, Mr. Alan Richardson discussed to the referees thru power point presentation and hands out the "Introduction to Teaching". He likewise did some presentation on various aspects of FIBA officiating. In the afternoon of the same day, Mr. Richardson conducted a team building exercises for the referees and showed the referees a film with regards to international situations in officiating. On the second day (August 11, 2007), Mr. Richardson made presentation on evaluating referees and conducted activities and exercises for skills training. In the afternoon of the same day, Mr. Richardson facilitated again a team building exercises for the referees and showed the referees a film with regards to international situations in officiating. On the third day of the program (August 12, 2007), Mr. Richardson lectured on evaluating referees. After the morning session, they proceeded to practice what they have learned in the previous sessions with a practical application on how to evaluate game officials during a game. The collegiate game between EAC vs. St. Benilde was used as a teaching tool for said purpose.
